Notable annual gatherings in North America with the participation of hundreds of thousands of people across the continent include the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Laconia Motorcycle Week, and Daytona Beach Bike Week. There are countless small, regional gatherings across the United States, including the annual gathering BMW MOA International Oyster Run in the Pacific Northwest, the Golden Aspen Rally (formerly Aspencade) in south-west, Laughlin River Run West, and Americade in the Northeast.
Rallies often behave like entertainment shows motorcycle stunt wheelie and acts as the wall of death, bands, and works dice and poker runs. In some cases, rallies are held as benefits for organizations or groups such as the American Red Cross, the American Legion or VFW.

The usual order of the day is a tent camping with real ale and music. Rallies usually start on a Friday afternoon and end at noon on Sunday. The point is to travel there by bike, motorcycle and sidecar or trike (no cars or vans), meet friends from all over the country and sometimes beyond, ask your badge rally and enjoy the fun and entertainment . Prizes are awarded for the longest distance traveled, best bike, best bike rat, the oldest person present, the youngest person present, etc. There are usually scheduled ride-out on Saturday by making good roads and sometimes historic sites, museums, etc.
In the population of the United Kingdom relate to many of the famous motorcycle rallies Bulldog Bash near Stratford-upon-Avon (recently in the news for the wrong reasons [August 2007]). This is a hugely popular event and attracts thousands of people, some do not have a motorcycle, but the idea. However, there are many gatherings which attract much less between 50-500 riders at each event. They are very organized and controlled by the host club. For many, the highlight of the event is the burning of the sacrifice of an old caravan, the scourge of motorists over a holiday! A motorcycle rally is not to be confused with a "meet" such as those taking place at various locations throughout the country, such as Bassetts Pole, Matlock Bath, Box Hill Shanklin Esplanade on the Isle of Wight just to name a few. Rallies are always attended by motorcyclists who have been in meetings until 40 or 50 years. In the motorcycle in the United Kingdom began to rally in the 1960s Ernest earlier than young, mostly male class and women (usually on the rump) purchased the freedom of owners of motorcycles and went camping in the country . Some went in groups or clubs and then the rally was born. Many were boys Ton-up later, grease, and Greebos. The general term for a motorcyclist today seems to be "biker".
