This was a unique event for the theater in Boston. All parts were 10 minutes long, and were presented to the audience to a standing room only. The authors were a mixed group of talented souls, some of them were known, some were unknown, while some were budding stars. The theater community in Boston was now complete for this exciting event. Some of the most famous directors and actors from Boston shared the stage space in the Marathon. It was a 'high' time for theater lovers, as they had the opportunity to watch a host of celebrities at one time in one place. In 2004, The Boston Theatre Marathon won the "Best Boston" award for "Best Original Programming" by the improper Bostonian. Marathon 2008 was funded by the Humanities Foundation at Boston University.
