Dance Mat Games

Dance Mat GamesVideo Games and Exercise for Children

Many parents are concerned about the amount of time their children spend playing video games, and in particular, that their children are not getting enough exercise. Well, it may well be that their worries and concerns are more with the growing popularity of video games and peripherals which actively encourage physical activity.

Recently there has been an increase in demand for children and young teenagers for dance mats. These are interactive mats which have built in sensors, the idea being that the players have to move, dance, jogging, jumping and twisting of the music, carrying as many moves as quickly as possible, and Following the dances together. This puts them in direct competition with their friends, and of course, they spend a lot of time jumping, running and being energetic. Some argue that the exercise in this way were better for their health than going out into the street, riding on busy roads or going out of parks, where they encounter all sorts of risks and dangers.

In addition to dance mats, Nintendo has recently launched a new device sports, which acts as a plinth - is reminiscent of a surfboard. By balancing on this point, a number of activities can be carried out - the intensification of basic surfing and snowboarding, and even yoga. The large number of highly sensitive sensors built into the card means that the computer can detect balance, pressure and movement of a player, and either replicate the use of an avatar in three dimensions on the screen, or provide comments or an evaluation on the level of competence, level of fitness or level of ability in a particular activity.

Again, children have a natural competitiveness in them, and this may be as much against themselves as against their friends. Often these days schools are not willing to engage children in competitive sports, and many schools have chosen not actively teaching competitive activities in the program. However, children have a natural need to try to be better than either past performance or against someone else - and if a friend or a computer generated avatar does not always work. How exercise in this way means that not only will your children get a good deal of effort in good health, but very often they are taught how to improve their skills, and conduct exercises and warming techniques to help them.

Clearly computers are unlikely to replace the fresh air and the benefits of going outside and running around a sports field, or cycling through the countryside, but we must also be realistic and accept that if These activities could have been possible and the security of a generation or two, children are much more likely today, and therefore one of how they can be helped to use these games that provide fun and entertainment and exercise.

As with all things - the key is to find a reasonable balance between different types of exercise, and the types of games.
