Health And Safety In A Nursery girls and nursery health and safety concerns ... My Please advise me? I dropped my from 4 years to kindergarten ... it's a private matter attached to a private prep school (ages 3 to 11) that the children were all in court about 30 of them with a teacher on duty. A little girl fell over the back of the court and skinned knees, he was bleeding and she was very upset she was about 3 or 4 ... Brough it was to the teacher by 3 girls aged 8 years and I said crying and very angry ... The teacher did not even look at her or her injury, she just said "Take a seat on the bench, she will be ok" and continued watching the court .. the girls had a little cotton wool were amortized and dabbing his bloody knees ... it's as bad as I think it is? The fact that the teacher did not even look to check the grain of sand or glass and does not offer any comfort? It is an expensive school that supposedly proud itself on its attitude towards the care of children ... I am devastated that my daughter could be treated the same way and do not know what to do? Advice and opinions please? Ask to see there are health and safety policy and if not satisfied, file a complaint with the headteacher or governors, as appropriate. If no joy, please contact OFSTED who will follow up complaints and you publish the results on their website. I would have a serious conversation with the person in charge. This is certainly unacceptable. It should certainly be a better children per teacher. Not to mention ignoring the child's injuries. I wouldnt feel comfortable leaving my children. It is very unfair on the little girl. The teacher can do this for a reason but I think its wrong. whjen I was at school a few years ago my teachers have helped me when my friends r feelove I use to work in a nursery and has been an adult for 5 children! I am very shocked by the teacher who looks after 30! As with all accidents must be written in a book by accident, no matter how minor they are! I would ask to speak to the manager of the nursery is not acceptable! All children should receive 100% of care in a nursery and I find it hard to believe that an adult can do it for 30 children. I would like to have a word with them. A teacher for 30 children is not enough staff to children ratio. Nevertheless, the attitude was not what I would see those who seek after the kids - I like to think that a childminder would be to comfort and deal with any knee broke or something, my child had everything there. Contact Ofsted on this, then they will contact the school to resolve. Yes it is as bad as you think it is, but unfortunately not uncommon in both public and private schools. if the pitch is mixed with kindergarten and children, then at least one of the kindergarten teachers should be there too. there is a legally binding ratio of adults to children in a nursery or school, depending on the age of the children involved. I do not remember exactly, but I think for this age group's something like 8 children to 1 adult. In any case, there should be someone outside of the coverage in an emergency such as this when the teacher has to attend to an injured child or any other problem. Posted on July 8, 2011.
