Large Baby Gates

Large Baby GatesLarge dogs with baby gates (energy weimaraner)?

I pet sit and I am a dog walker for two Weimaraners (1 year and 2.5 years). Their parents are away from home about 10:00 to 10:00 p.m. for two months during the legislative session. I walk or run with the dogs for at least 30 minutes (usually more like an hour) 2x/day when their owners have long hours.

If you know Weimaraners, you know they are intelligent. Year old can lock the deadbolt and opened push down the handle of the door. It also has some separation anxiety. 2.5 year old is not so much a question - a better behavior, clearly.

Our problem is that they always seem to be energized if the owners come home much later, and sometimes they are pulling me as working horses on our walks / runs. We were going to try to let them roam freely in the house instead of boxes, but they are afraid of the damage and the lockout ...

Does anyone have experience with large dogs and baby gates? Do they normally obey the barrier or trying to jump? Any experience weimaraner?

We have two golden retrievers. We have a pet door works well, they can not jump over. I know they are extra-wide the doors to pets for the big dogs of the highest energy /. try a pet door, rather than a baby carrier, because they have more varieties designed for animals rather than a baby ...

I have no experience weimaraner, but we have a year old black labrador. We went through a couple baby gates with him because he likes to jump / run through them! I do not want to leave them alone in the house of a crate, if I were you. If you leave them out of the cage but with baby gates, they can just jump on them, especially if they are high energy and really want something! I stick to the body and remove them when you can. My parents have a boyfriend who is completely fenced acre, and we take our dog there to run! He loves it. It is really about him, and we do not have to worry about him escaping. When we get home he just go in his crate to nap. If a dog park around where you are, which is a great place to take a dog that wants to run!

Regarding the door baby go, it depends on the dog.
I have an assortment of dogs, ranging from 7 lbs to 100 lbs.
All my dogs right now regarding the baby carrier.
But I encourage a dog 18 pounds that do not respect borders, and he would try to knock on the door or jump over. I had to close the door to keep him in a room.

Have you considered teaching the dogs to go on a treadmill?
I used to take over some of my dogs high energy (in addition to their regular course).

Not all dogs will obey the barrier. My niece has 3 Wiemer and two of them jump the baby gate. It is better to keep then packaged by giving them freedom in the house if they are not ready for that.
