Schwinn Tricycle

Schwinn TricycleI have an adult tricycle, a Schwinn Tri-Bike. It needs painting. How would I go about this painting?

Mari told me what to do to paint the chrome bumpers, but do not know how or what to do to paint the rest of the bike.

Get a spray paint and start painting, nothing else!

Rustoleum spray paint!

I would recommend a base color on top and then take a sponge and sponge on the same tone.

I recommend some of Testors spray paints and other cars. It's a bit expensive, but it gives you a glossy finish, similar to what you get when its new brand. Sand the first glass wet / dry (preferably wet) and bring them to bare metal. Use a primer to protect it from rust, (Krylon is good), then just paint.

Sand it with fine sandpaper, if it so bad. Clean it and let it dry and then spray with a good metal spray following the instructions. Of course, this means it will be quite different. Just take your time and attention to the spray, do not try to put it on thick, it will run and leave a mess. Just thin coats.Let dry thoroughly between coats. Sounds like fun. Good luck!

Personally, I'd take him somewhere to be sanded before painting. Sandblasting is a generic term for the process of smoothing, shaping and cleaning a hard surface by forcing solid particles across that surface at high speeds, the effect is similar to the use of paper glass, but provides a better finish, even without any problems at corners or crannies.

The process can be used to strip accumulations of rust, dirt and old paint or varnish. It must be handled carefully in order not to damage the underlying surface. It also would ensure a good bond between the surface and paint.

I would ask an auto body shop for a good place to do in your area. You can even negotiate for a custom paint job. Just an idea.

Good luck with it! :)
