Corpus Christi, Texas: More Than Just Oil Many oil refineries on line I-37 at the approach of Corpus Christi, Texas. You might think it's an ugly looking city. Get to the Gulf of Mexico and you will find a completely different city.
People flock to the beaches for swimming in the Gulf. But Corpus Christi has so much more to offer.
Visit the Texas State. Although small aquarium, it is high quality. Sixteen different places are located on three levels, including an observation deck on the roof. The docents encourage touch the stingrays and ponds with sea urchins, hermit crabs and shells. The aquarium has activities for the whole family every half hour. They may be talking about lines, reptiles, turtles, otters, birds and other animals. Do not miss the program of dolphin training. The fifteen minute demonstration shows how and why the dolphins are trained. This is different from the dolphin show at Sea World in San Antonio, which is a spectacular show. It is instructive and shows how teachers interact with each other. The narrator is a person, usually a child, learn some hand signals and use the trainer then uses the dolphin. Expect to spend at least three hours here.

Next to the aquarium through the channel is the aircraft carrier, USS Lexington, which was appointed by Tokyo Rose 'Blue Ghost ". She was named as the cause of all the attacks made on it and it never sank. The USS Lexington Museum on the Bay is a National Historical Landmark. Enter the ship you're immersed in the sounds and sights of the war in the Pacific during WWII Dimensions. You can see a movie on the big Imax screen on board. It is included in the ticket price. Get ready to walk and climb stairs many flights. The carrier is a floating city.
Also on the bay is the Art Museum of South Texas. This modernist building was designed by Philip Johnson and has an impressive permanent collection and temporary exhibitions also.
Numerous other attractions also attract visitors to Corpus Christi, such as botanical gardens, their team minor league baseball, boat trips on the Gulf, etc.
We found a very good restaurant, tea room Tango 505 Water Street South. They serve soup, salads and sandwiches, in addition to many varieties of teas. Vegans and omnivores will disappear from the table stuffed. Everything is served with nacho chips and salsa delicious. It is closed on Sundays.
