Sweetheart Playhouse

Sweetheart PlayhouseCan I paint a plastic house?

What is the best type of paint to use?
It is something like this -

Does anyone have free on Freecycle, but it has been written about and very colorful / dirty. Thank you.

Before painting, be it a coin operated car wash and pressure wash. Although it may take a few tries, dirt and some of the crayon comes off. As for paint, Krylon makes a spray paint that sticks to all types of plastic. Here's a link: http://www.krylon.com/

spray paint that will stick to hard plastic. Check your local Home Depot or Lowes.

Once you get really clean, and I mean rub with a strong detergent, rinse well and let it dry thoroughly. You could even use a very fine sandpaper to get off the pencil marks, as they can bleed thereafter. In fact, I wear lightly over the surface to help the paint adhere. Wash the dust after sanding.

The suggestion to use a spray paint specially formulated for plastic is good. It has a plastic primer included in the formula. However, I would like to spend the extra step and also choice in a separate step before painting in the color of your choice. This article has a lot of heavy use by children and perhaps even in time. Even if it is under a covered porch, it will still be resisted. Ask an expert in your local paint department for a primer spray suitable for plastic, and a spray paint for plastic. Make sure to use several light coats and allow them to dry between.

Good luck! I love Freecycle!

Nothing will really stick to that and remain constant. It is PVC and it will eventually rub off with use / abuse. Best you can do is rough up surfaces to be painted with a 320 or finer wet glass / dry, clean, then Prime Zinsser 1-2-3 primer. It will stick to most other things primers can not. Then paint with good quality acrylic paint.

I did and it worked very well. I used goof cleaned and get the notes out. then I use my pressure washer to clean and painted with Krylon Fusion. Keep out of the elements and away from the kiddos for a week so he can heal. (I didn't the first time, and just as he did not) good luck!

Try using an epoxy paint. This is a good sealer. I used it on a boat a stroke of time.

Try Krylon Fusion paint for plastics ... it flexes with the material. It comes in several colors.
